I’ve realized over the past four years that we have reached epidemic proportions in this country regarding the use of OxyContin and Vicodin among our teens.  In 2007 there were 2.1 million reported cases of teenagers being addicted to these drugs.

Out of that 2.1 million, 14% of the teenagers between the ages of 12 and 17 actually felt that prescription drugs did not do any harm to them because it was prescribed to them or to their parents from a doctor. 

These drugs don’t have the stigma that an illegal drug has, and they are easy to get.  Our young people can become addicted to them without even knowing it.  We are here to let them know of the dangers of addiction, the damage that addiction will cause, and how it’s going to affect them the rest of their life.

Anyone can become addicted to prescription drugs.  I am living proof of that.  My 20-year addiction to Vicodin and other opiate medications hurt not only myself but my family, my friends, my health, and it nearly cost me my life.  It would be my honor to come to your organization and talk to your teens and give them the brutal truth about prescription drug abuse, and how it can affect them. We need your help in getting our message of awareness, prevention & hope to your teenagers and their parents. Help us in our continued effort to put a stop to prescription drug abuse and to restore lives that have been ruined by this horrible disease.
